Last week, Dennis stood out to me because he was a friend to someone who was new to class and missed 5 weeks of class. Even though, his friend could have gotten caught up on his own, Dennis went the extra mile to use his lunch time to accompany that student to my lunch time tutoring as I talked with them about what they needed in class and how to get caught up. It's so good to know that there are people like Dennis to make sure that his friends are not alone. That was such a gentlemen quality. On top of that, Dennis is such a joy to have in the classroom and always brings a big smile. None like you, Dennis!
Outstanding Student of the week: Mayerling C - for possessing prowess. I'm not sure how to describe this exceptional lady. She's always ready. She works fantastic with people around her. She's hardworking, gets the job done and with excellence! Altogether lovely. I love that she speaks with authority knowing that what comes out of her mouth contributes to the classroom. It takes a great deal for someone to recognize that especially a girl in a Math classroom. At the same time, she also knows that her strength is not for status but for service. What an honor it is to have her in my math classroom and in my advisory class. I am doubly blessed.
I teach Integrated Math 1, Math Enrichment 8, and have a wonderful class of 8th graders whom I call my beloved Tangerines - class of 2020! I teach at The Preuss School UCSD. I received my Masters of Education and Bachelors of Arts in Mathematics - Secondary Education at University of California San Diego.
